Mexican style chocolate is a highly sweetened chocolate that has been stone ground into rough cakes with a grainy texture. Break off a few triangles and melt them in hot water or milk for a delicious chocolate drink. The proportion of milk/water to chocolate depends upon your own taste. We currently carry two producers of Mexican style chocolate. Kekua, a Mexican artisan, produces traditional disks of Mexican chocolate, while American artisan, Taza, uses high quality cacao from the Dominican Republic to make chocolate disks in the traditional Mexican style. While Mexican style chocolate does not contain milk, it does tend to have a higher sugar content than other dark chocolates. Taza's stone ground disks are great for eating or drinking.
